TEAm,

Whether reading this on the front end of your long weekend, or as it is winding down, here are a few pieces TEA believes you need to know about:

Upcoming Events   –            TEA AR Meeting on Wednesday April 19th at 4:30 in the Rincon Library (all members welcome)

TUSD Job Fair Saturday April 22 from 9-1 at Catalina High School

Exceptional Ed. Forum Wednesday April 26 at 4:30 in the Maroon room at 1010 E 10th Street

Technology PD Saturday May 6 at 9:00 at TEA

TEA General Membership Meeting/Celebration Wednesday May 10 at 4:30, location still to be determined.  All members and potential members welcomed

Negotiations  –  Teacher should have received your contract Thursday April 13th.  This is not the final negotiated contract, as TEA and TUSD are still at the bargaining table.  This contract guarantees you a position for next year so that you don’t have to have any fears.  Once TEA concludes negotiations, you will receive the changes to the Agreements and the opportunity to vote to ratify the Consensus or White Collar/Food Service Agreement.  Assuming it is ratified by the TEA membership and approved by the Governing Board, you WILL NOT receive an amended contract.  Your signing the contract you received Thursday makes it so you are also accepting the improvements that TEA makes during negotiations, and hence amended contracts are not needed.  This last December, TEA negotiated a step increase for next year for all employees.  We are proud that the negotiated step-raises that were approved in December will be honored by the current Governing Board.  Please know that TEA will continue to work to make improvements to both Agreements.

301 Payout  –      Amendment #1 emails have gone out to affected employees.  TEA has been working with the district and employees who believe an error was made regarding their payment.  Please let TEA know if you need any support in this process.

TEA Board  –        There are two vacancies for the 2017-2019 TEA Board, the Sahuaro Area Director and the Sabino Area Director.  This is a wonderful leadership opportunity, so please consider supporting your Association and joining the Board.  This is an open election, so you can run regardless ofthe site you work at.  Please join the dynamic leaders on the TEA Board of Directors.

We are on the final push, with a great amount of work to accomplish yet.  We hope you have/had a  wonderful long weekend, that testing goes well, and that you join us at the AR Meeting Wednesday and the myriad of other functions TEA is involved in.  And as always, thank you for all that you do for our kids and community.

Brothers and Sisters,

Now that we have finished enjoying our left-over Thanksgiving food, it is time for the mad-dash that is the end of the semester.  Here are the important updates as we enter December:

·         The 301 Pay for Performance survey is out, so please fill it out right away.  If you did not receive the survey and believe you should have, please email Richard.foster@tusd1.org to have him email you the survey.  Remember that this survey is to help the 301 committee to address the underutilization of the Pay for Performance monies.  If you have questions regarding the survey, please first reference the Q & A piece TEA put out.  If you still have questions, please email TEA.  The survey closes late Tuesday, so please vote right away.

·         TEA has an exciting Professional Development opportunity coming up this Saturday, December 3rd.  Join your colleagues for a session on learning how to use technology to increase your efficiency, specifically steps to save time documenting student behavior as well as parent contacts and team collaboration.  The link has more information; do a search on the TUSD portal for course #13221 to register.  See you Saturday at Palo Verde.   www.smore.com/pkbb1-register-today?ref=email

·         TEA General Membership Meeting and Celebration!  This is an opportunity for Association Representatives and members to join us and hear what has taken place over the first semester.  TEA is providing a catered meal, desserts, and adult beverages.  The meeting is scheduled for December 14th at 4:30 at TEA (4625 E 2nd St).  Please mark your calendar and come join us for a fun, informative, and celebratory time.

Enjoy the last four weeks of this semester, stay warm and keep your vitamin C intake up.  See you Saturday for the PD opportunity and on December 14th at TEA at 4:30 for our General Membership Meeting.
